Tips for a Good Resume

  Be sure your name, address and all contact information are current and clearly stated.

  State your job objective (short-term, and career goals).

  Summarize your job skills, formal education and training.

  Format your resume in a readable fashion; ask a professional editor to review your resume and make any necessary revisions for best results.

  Include a good cover letter for any specific job you are seeking; ask a professional editor to review your cover letter to make sure all important information is included and well-worded.

  Followup is important - make appropriate contact with a potential employer or your job search service to learn what action may have occurred.

Bring in your resume

MapleLine Business Centre is located at 6707 West Coast Road in Sooke town centre (across from Peoples Drug Mart, next to Sooke Power Supplies).  We're the green building with the yellow door and cedar planter-boxes out front. There is parking for vehicles and bicycles out front and also behind the building.  Use the metal rings on the flower boxes to leash up your dog while you're in the store.

We can help with your job search

MapleLine Business Centre is devoted to serving all aspects of everyday business. That includes helping match up potential employees with businesses in the Sooke area and broader Greater Victoria area.

How our job support service works:

Bring in your resume. Make sure it has current information including contact information (phone & email), type of work or job you are seeking, your availability, and your qualifications.  If you require writing, editing, formatting, output from a flash drive, or use of our public computer workstations there will be a fee (min. $7.50+HST).

We will post your information within our online job board. We will ask you to sign a release for permission to put your contact information online.

We will hold your resume on file at our office. You will be asked to pay for any additional photocopies of your resume. Employers are welcome to come into our store to view the available resumes and may take copies from our files if they wish to contact you.

After 90 days you need to renew your posting. We will remove any job-interest postings that have been online for more than 90 days. 

We do *not* search out jobs or match employees to employers. It is your responsibility to maintain your own job search, but we hope on online postings and in-store service will help.

Visa, MasterCard, American Express, debit; cheques accepted only from established customer account holders. NSF cheques will incur a $20 fee.  HST is payable on all products and services, effective July 1/10.
